Curricular Aspects

Psychology as optional subject in B.A. with History, Economics in Telugu medium. The sanctioned intake of the Department is 20 students. It is one of the oldest department offering Psychology from S.V. University affiliated college.

The syllabus is prescribed by S.V. University under common core system. During the academic year 2015-16, Choise Based Credit System was introduced for all the affiliated degree colleges under Sri Venkateswara University. The following table describes the Psychology papers titles, hours and mark:

Teaching Learning Evaluation

The method adopted by the faculty is lecturer method for teaching. Eliciting examples in day to day events (Individual, group) group discussions, conduct of seminars, debats, quizzes, assignments, roll play models, creative learning are taking place in the classes. In addition, to make teaching more effective charts, models ,OHP sheets, PPTs, video lessons were also bring used.

Practical class which is of 2 hours duration is divided into two parts, one hour is slated for the experimental demonstration and one hour is allotted for individual performance of experiments and to note down the observations.

The academic standard of the students are assessed by periodical conduct of oral, slip tests and internal examinations.

Based on the practical class results and discussion individual and comparison with group easily can identify one as slow learner or fast learner. Remedial courses are offered for academically backward students by counselling of the difficult topic by way of student’s wards, thus students were motivated to learn the material effectively.

During the practical class, experimental charts, kits, PPTs and video virtual demonstrations are also used for better understanding.

Apart from having huge library, the department exclusively has a departmental library with about 50 books and about 200 books in the digital library. The books for this library have been contributed by various donors.

The teachers on their part update their knowledge by referring journals, reference books, participating in seminars, refresher courses and using internet facility.
