About the Department
The department of statistics was established in the year 1963.
The subject Statistics was introduced in 1963-64 with Mathematics and Economics combination. i.e., BA (MES).
Later it was converted BA (AES- Accountancy, Economics and Statistics) during the academic year 1971-72 in the place BA (MES).
In continuation that MES & AES have been changed in to B.Sc. (M.S.CS - Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science) & (ASCA- Accounts, Statistics and Computer Applications) in 2001.
At present the department of statistics in S.V. Arts College is one of the leading department in the college around 260 students in all three years of UG courses.
The department is affiliated to S.V. University, Tirupati from the date of its establishment in the year 1963 with yearly pattern of examinations.
The pattern has been changed to CBCS (Choice Based Credit System) from the academic year 2015-16.
Four Lecturer posts are sanctioned to the department. At present one Regular Lecturer and Three contract lecturers are working in the department.
The administration and academic matters of the department is maintained by the Head of the Department as per rules and guidelines of the college.
The department will conducted student Seminars, Quiz, Group Discussions, Remedial Classes and Guest Lecturers regularly.
The continuous and comprehensive evaluation of the student will be assessed though Oral Tests, Assignments, Internal and External Examinations.
Lecturers update their knowledge in teaching research on participation of orientation Programmes, Refresher Courses conducted by Academic Staff Colleges of universities and seminars, workshops, conferences organized by various institutions and he latest information through internet by referring journals, periodicals& magazines.
