About the Department
The subject of political science in B.A. course was introduced in English medium in the year 1958-59 and Telugu medium in the year 1970-71. Dr.L. Kodandarama Naidu of Political Science department handled classes of political science during the first year.
Political science was started as separate department in 1959 and Sri Veeram Reddy was appointed as first lecturer and continued as Head of the Department till he was transferred to S.G.S Arts College on Promotion as Principal in the year 1990.
Prof. D. Balakrishna Rao was his successor and he was also promoted as principal in 1992 later D. Narasimha Raju headed the department till his retirement in the month of May 2005 and after which Vivekananda Reddy took over the charges in June 2005 till 2006 when Dr A. Samanthakamani has become the new Head of the Department after his retirement, Later on the time around 2009 Mr Ananda rao who was working as a lecturer in S.G.S college transferred to S.V Arts College and took over the responsibilities of H.O.D as well as Vice Principal of the College till 2011. And after his retirement T.Sreenath took over the charge as Head in July 2011.
